China's Confucius Institutes are propaganda machines

Toronto's recently opened Confucius Institute is designed to promote the development of Chinese language education by expanding the opportunities for students to learn Mandarin and understand the culture, history and traditions of China.

But in reality, instructors are trained to self-censor topics that are politically taboo in China.

This scandal is making many waves here in Toronto. It shows how the Chinese government is completely out of touch with democratic sensibilities of Western countries.
