South Korean Protesters

31 May 2017

For the past five weekends, hundreds of thousands of protesters have been occupying large parts of downtown Seoul, South Korea, in some of the largest demonstrations seen in decades, demanding the ouster of President Park Geun-hye. This weekend’s crowd was estimated to be as large as 1.3 million protesters. Prosecutors have accused the president of helping a close family friend manipulate government affairs and extort large sums of money from businesses. Park now has the worst-ever polling figures for the country's presidency, and opposition groups are working to have her impeached.
